Red Scarf Girl - 810 Words

RTL: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck Society isolates individuals from others because they fear the reactions they will evoke from others. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck displays isolation through Crooks, Candy, and Curley’s wife. Candy is isolated because of his disability and his and the death of his dog. Crook is isolated mainly due to his race. Curley’s wife suffers from solitude because she is the only women. The pervasive emotion experienced by all of the characters in Of Mice and Men is loneliness. The loneliness is also, though, profoundly existential and symbolic. The men do not want to be isolated and they do not want to be left behind by society. Candy is one protagonist who suffers from isolation. Candy is†¦show more content†¦S pose you couldn t go into the bunk house and play rummy cause you was black. How d you like that? S pose you had to sit out here an read books. The Great Depression reflected through Crook because slavery ended but there was still racism against any black. For example, Crook got even with Lennie to show all his anger of isolation and racism. Curley’s wife is isolated because she is not wanted by society as she is a woman. The fact that she doesn’t have her own name explains that she is property of Curley. Curley’s wife is also isolated because she needs to find consolation in Lennie telling him about her being a star if her mom had let her. She is craving for so much attention. This forces Lennie to end up killing her. Curley’s wife is not a typical character meaning she does not appear in many stories. No men want to talk to her as they consider her a flirtatious and trouble maker. For example, Curley’s wife states that she is lonely: I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely. Family Day Essay - 965 Words

nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Family Day When I was around 6, I had gotten out of church wearing my nice church clothes with a tie, shoes, dressy pants, and a blazer. I was with my mom, dad, brother, and sister, who all had on church clothes too. My sister had the same things my mom had on, a black long skirt with an expensive white shirt. My brother and dad had on the same thing too: black shoes, navy blue pants, black bowtie and white shirt. I was the only one with a blazer on. My siblings and I were really happy we all went to church together, so I guess my dad was happy because of that, but he had a tired look on his face too. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; After church,†¦show more content†¦I guess to make sure no one got in to rob them it was so high. It was beautiful once we got in. There were trees so high up and along a cement road; we could walk around the garden. In the garden there were houses that seemed old and run down, like they had been there for years but went inside one, it smelled like roses. We noticed at second glance it was a rose house with many different types of roses. They had red, yellow, white, even pink roses. My sister loved it there; she was dreaming she was in a romantic movies waiting for her dream man to come. My brother and I just laughed at her, saying she was stupid. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; As we moved along, we got to a bridge that seemed old and run down, but I thought of it as an adventure. I am not that stupid, so I told my brother to go first. He ran across the bridge and made it just fine, so I though â€Å"it is my turn; if he can make it, so can I†. Service Encounters and Customer Satisfaction

Question: Discuss about the Service Encounters and Customer Satisfaction. Answer: Introduction In Australia Dominos Pizza Enterprise Limited is the largest pizza chain and it is also the largest pizza franchisee chain in the world. The network, shops and the sales of Dominos pizza are huge in Australia. In the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Australia, Franca, New Zealand and Belgium, there are present approximately 2000 stores of Dominos Pizza and headquarter is situated in Queensland, Australia. In Australia Dominos Pizza was announced the publicly listed Pizza company in the year 2005. In 1983 in Queensland the first Dominos Pizza store in Australia was opened and they were offering home delivery service to the customers. In the USA, DomiNicks pizza store was purchased by Tom Monaghan and James Monaghan in the year 1960 and from the name DomiNicks the name Dominos was born and the business was running successfully (Gray, 2013). Now there are working 26000 employees in the company. The company is providing traditional pizzas, chicken pizza, pizza mogul, cheese pizza, pizza chef and prawn pizza, with these they are also providing various types of cold drinks and chips. Apart from these Fudge Brownies, Mini Dutch Pancakes, Baked Churros etc. are also available in the stores. These are provided to the customers as desserts. The customers can order pizza through the internet service and get home delivery. Supply chain management Supply chain management (SCM) is a process through which any information or materials are transferred from the manufacture to the whole seller, wholesaler to the retailer and from the retailer to the customers (Christopher, 2016). In Australia the customers of Dominos Pizza are always asking a one question where is my pizza? so the company has arranged an online tracking system through which the customers can know exactly when the delivery will arrive. This tracking system is a part of supply chain, which helps to keep distinct communication with the customers. As a result the transparency among the customers and the company is being increased. Through Dominos Pizza application the customers can give direct feedback to the company which is very much helpful for the company to improve the services (Zhao Balagu, 2015). The manufacturer, wholesales and the retailers can do their business more distinctly and the communication becomes very fast due to the use of technology and the chain become stronger. But the company is adding new technologies on the existing ones without using the new sophisticated technologies (Hartley, 2015). In the year 2002 the inventory controlling process of Dominos was centralized and the operations were directly connected to headquarter. All the distribution channels were controlling through the software (Rao Oumlil, 2015). The planning and sourcing of the supply chain were being controlled by the technologies. But due to the inventory centralization there were creating several problems to operate the inventories properly and it was affecting the communications with the customers. The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been involved to control the inventories and now there are adding several new features to the system such as replenishment and forecasting software programmes. Forecasting: On the basis of performance in the previous years the company can predict the growth in the future years through forecasting. It is a tool to predict the performance of the company in future (Heizer Barry, 2013). But this prediction cant be right always (Nagy et al., 2013). Though Dominos is having 1200 stores but shit it is possessing only 2.7% area of the fast food market in Australia and New Zealand. So Dominos needs a real time system which is helpful to increase the inventory and the out of stock ingredients should be removed so the relation with the customers will more distinct. Apart from these the efficiency of purchase should be increased. Sometimes due to the bad weather the business has been affected. In the rainy weather the number of customers in the stores are decreased and sometimes the delivery boy cant able to reach for delivery within the given time. At that time there are creating some problems of the stocks. So the real time service should be strong enough to maintain these types of situations and the stocks should be maintained properly. Sometimes after purchase the customers are being given coupon but when the customer is willing to use it in his next purchase its not working. These types of errors should be fixed through an advance real time system. Replenishment: The replenishment software programme is using to maintain the inventory in a well-organised manner (Boctor Bolduc, 2016). Which products are being bought by the customers and how much products are required in that area, these all are properly maintained through this replenishment software (Costantino et al., 2015). Dominos is using this software to full fill the need of the customers. But sometimes there are creating several problems with the stocks and the customers are not getting the products which they need. The inventory replenishment software programme should be strong enough to make the adjustment of the stocks on the basis of running performance. A proper balance can be maintained between the customers orders and the stocks by using this software programme and the investment on inventory can also be minimised by a proper and centralised inventory replenishment software programme. Delivery the right amount within time: Dominos always tries to attempt delivery within the given time. When a customer gives order for pizza then it is very important to deliver the right amount. Due to the presence of an organised real time system Dominos able to do deliver the right amount with the given time (Bamburry, 2015). Previously Dominos was using the monthly forecasting system but now the weekly forecasting system has been installed. As a result sufficient stocks are available in all the stores. So the customers are getting the products according to their choices. For better performance Dominos has launched a programmed, which is named matched receipts to demand module. Previously the big trucks had come with lots of same raw materials but now Dominos is demanding the trucks with varieties of raw materials in lesser amount. So the varieties of stocks are always available in the stores. Depending upon the present performance the company is trying to predict the future demand and according to this the company is trying to change their strategies. Apart from these the promotional forecasting is also an important part of the business. Depending upon the previous performance the future promotional plan is being developed. The demand planning module is developed by collecting the internal and historical information of the company. So the forecasting system of the company should be well developed. Issues in supply chain management After studying the supply chain management of Dominos pizza it has seen that there are present some issues in the supply chain management. Inventory management: There should be present enough stock so the customers are satisfied according to their demand. The customers should get their delivery within appropriate time. But due to the problem in real time system sometimes it has seen that the inventory is not being managed properly. The customers are not getting delivery according to their will. A huge gatherings can be noticed in the stores and some customers have to leave the stores without getting their orders. Sometimes the customers are not getting home delivery within the given time. Managing the suppliers: The supply chain mangers should have proper knowledge about the suppliers. The number of suppliers should be determined properly by the managers. If the relation with the suppliers are not being well maintained then the productivity of the company is being hampered. It will affect the stock and there will not enough products to satisfy the customers. Maintain the quality and safety: Now a days the people become more health conscious and they aware about the side effects of the junk foods (Webster et al., 2014). So Dominos should maintain the quality of the products and also should take care of the safety of the customers. So the company needs to care about the raw materials which are being delivers by the suppliers. If the raw materials are of good quality then the productivity will also good. Through digital media the government is also trying to increase the awareness among the people about health and safety. Though the pizza is a junk food but the company is trying to do promotion of the low calorie pizzas to attract all kinds of customers. Risk management: Risk management is one of the most important factor for the growth of any business (Lam, 2014). A strong supply chain management is capable to predict the natural calamities such as earthquake, rainy reason etc. and according to that prediction the inventory management should be well defined. But sometimes it has seen that the real time system cant predict the natural calamities and the company has to face several problems like enough stock is not available in the stores and the company is not able to do home delivery. These incidents can affect the business very badly. The suppliers can be bankrupted and the supply chain can be broken down. Performance of Dominos To improve the supply chain management dominos has installed a new tracking system, so the customers can track the exact location of their pizzas (Taylor, 2015). The tracker is working through five steps- placing the order, preparation of food, payment, packing the product and the route of delivery. The tracker also shows the name of the delivery boy. Through this tracker Dominos is showing their supply chain very distinctly to the customers. The other companies are not willing to show their supply chain and inventory management to the customers. So the customers of Dominos are being satisfied with this transparency. In the year 2016 Dominos has got profit of $92 million and it has increased approximately 43.6% than the previous years. Dominos has announced to increase their stores in Australia and New Zealand within next 10 years. On the basis of this real time supply chain management system Dominos is planning to develop their business. Conclusion Supply chain management is a complex work for any business house (Stadtler, 2015). Dominos is possessing a strong supply management system and it is related to the real time system. But there are existing some issues within it, thats why the inventory is not so much spread and the business operation of Dominos is affected. The company needs a strong and well organised real time system to manage and spread the inventory spontaneously. The entire operations of Dominos such as promotional strategies, safety and quality of the products and the risk management are related with the real time system. So the real time system of the company should be well developed. The company always provides fresh and good quality of foods. The company has always kept distinct communication with the customers, the new tracking system is very much helpful to keep transparency. This is helpful to increase the customer satisfaction. Dominos is offering various kinds of pizzas to the customers, so the customers are being attracted easily. References Bamburry, D. (2015). Lysis Socrates What Is Friendship Essay Example

Lysis Socrates: What Is Friendship? Paper What is friendship? In this dialogue between Socrates, Allis, and Allis best friend Nexuses, Socrates is trying to show Hippocrates that the way to attract attention from someone Is NOT by praising them, but by drawing them Into a philosophical discussion. He claims that praising them (especially young people) will only make them pigheaded, and that developing their mind soul with deep conversation Is the right way to draw their attention. Socrates shows this by starting a debate with Allis and Nexuses about friendship. From the get-go Socrates suggests to Allis that his parents love him, and In Greek the word for love Is related to the word for friendship. So, what Is friendship, and under what conditions does It exist? The first question Socrates poses Is to Nexuses and Is as follows: When someone loves someone else, which of the two becomes the friend of the other, the one who loves or the one who is loved? Or is there no difference (Plato, Bibb). Nexuses claims there to be no difference at all, and it is possible for two people to be friends if only one loves the other. If this is the case, is the lover the friend of the loved or vice-versa? Or can they not be friends because they do not both love each other in return? Nexuses agrees with the latter, meaning his thoughts of love and friendship have been questioned and even changed a little. Now, Socrates decides to take the discussion in a different direction. He turns to a quote from the poets, God always draws the like unto the like (Plato, 214). The poets are saying that God is the one who makes people friends. However, Socrates reasons to the idea that if this were true (that like is friends with like) then that would mean that evil would be friends with evil (because they are the same). This cannot be true because if evil people were friends than they would eventually do something wrong to the other causing them to be enemies. Consequently, Socrates says it Is Impossible for those who do wrong and those who suffer from It to be friends! After this explanation, Allis agrees with the Idea. Maybe, Socrates goes on to think, the poets only mean to attribute this to things that are good, so that only the good are like. The bad cannot befriend the bad, nor can It befriend the good, so whoever/ whatever are good are friends. Of course, Socrates finds a problem In this argument. He wonders although something Is good, how Is It that the Like Is friends with the like? Can two similar things be appreciated by each other even though they have no way of assisting the other? Socrates says absolutely not, and further, that nothing can be a friend If not valued by the other. Therefore, a Like Is not a friend of the like. Then he questions how this Is applied to the good, Insofar as It Is not the like. Socrates explains that whatever Is good Is self-sufficient (doesnt need anything from anyone/anything else). So the result is the same as with two like things or people. But now Socrates takes It In an even Deterrent Loretta. He sat arts out DAY remembering a saying from Hissed: Potter is angry with potter, poet with poet, and beggar with beggar (Plato, 21 c). In other words, things that are like are envious of each other, and filled with hate (for each other). For example, the rich befriend the poor; the weak befriend the strong, etc. This concludes that it is opposites that are friends, not likes. This is true because things desire what they are lacking, or their opposites. But, once again Socrates finds a reason to reject this claim. The opposite of friendship is hostility, meaning that a friend would have to be a friend to the enemy and vice-versa. This obviously cannot be true! So, what is a friend then? After some long thought, it comes to Socrates. The answer is that which is neutral! It is something that is neither good or bad that is a friend to the good. It is only a friend to the good thought because we know nothing can befriend the bad. The example given in this dialogue is that off human body. First, Socrates wants Allis and Nexuses to consider a healthy body. It does not need a doctor, medicine, etc. , but a sick body does. Isnt a sick body a bad thing? Socrates says no, not really. It is the disease that is causing the body to be sick that is bad, not the body itself. The human body itself is a neutral entity. Therefore, what is neither good nor bad becomes a friend of the good because of the presence of something bad (Plato, Bibb). But still Socrates questions the legitimacy of this argument. He is curious as to whether something good that is in the presence of something bad is itself bad. I mind it necessary to note that I tend to get somewhat lost in the dialogue here, but will contribute what I understand of the conclusion to this question. Socrates finds an answer in the scenario of a man with painted white hair, and an old man with naturally white hair. He claims that the hair in the first case is not really white yet, but is only in the presence of the whiteness. It is different in the old mans case however, because his hair has turned white on its own because of his old age. It is the same as the presence of the white, it has actually taken on this state of whiteness. Socrates concludes here: So now, Allis and Nexuses, we have discovered for sure what is a friend and what it is friend to. For we maintain that in the soul and in the body and everywhere, that which is neither good nor bad itself is, by the presence of evil, a friend of the good (Plato, chic). Socrates soon after rejects this conclusion as well. His logic for denying this conclusion I still cannot understand. It seems to me to be perfectly feasible. I do not necessarily believe this is the correct definition of a friend or friendship but I cannot find any fault in it either, and certainly do not submit to Socrates reasoning of feeing this definition. My idea of friendship however, is not very philosophical. Either way, the group of debaters eventually came to an end because of Allis and Nexuses being pulled away, and because it had been such a long, exhausted discussion. Unfortunately, no satisfactory conclusion to the question of friendship was reached. Although, this dialogue was very intriguing and caused the brain to really think, it is disappointing to walk away with no certain answer from Socrates.
